Skype Video Consultations available with Dr H King!

We are pleased to announce that Emperor’s Gate Surgery is taking part in a GP Skype Consultation Pilot Project.

If you would like to speak to a doctor whilst at home or in the office you can arrange for a Skype video consultation with Dr H King via our reception staff.

Appointments can be booked quickly by telephone. Patient details are taken at the time of booking, together with your contact information for making the Skype video call.

Our doctor will connect via Skype video link at the appointed time.

Speaking to a doctor via your webcam is a convenient way to discuss your health concerns in privacy and comfort. The doctor can then arrange for medication and for tests as appropriate.

Non-NHS/Private Services

Private Medical Insurance

non_nhs_services4The doctors are willing to refer you for private treatment if necessary, but private medical insurance forms will not be signed unless the patient was seen by the doctor at Emperors Gate Surgery first and referred on by that doctor.  There is a charge for this form to be signed.

Private Medicine

The partners in the practice have made a decision not to provide any private medical services for payment.  They aim to concentrate fully on providing as high a standard as possible within the NHS.  Residents in this area often have contact with private medical providers, or come from countries that have very different systems.  We therefore wish to make it clear how the practice manages the interface between private and NHS care.

If you wish to consult with a specialist, especially if you intend to claim on private medical insurance, please make an appointment to discuss referral with one of the doctors.  This can sometimes be discussed over the telephone, but it cannot be discussed after your consultation with the specialist.  We will only prescribe on the NHS medicines that have been recommended by a specialist following referral by the practice.

If you wish to consult a private GP, please note that it is our view that it is in your best interests to have one primary care doctor and your records in one place.  A second opinion is available within the practice by appointment with another doctor – we suggest one of the partners for this purpose.  Under no circumstances are we able to prescribe medication if we do not hold full responsibility for your care.  If we become aware that you are receiving treatment from another GP outside the practice we will write to you requesting clarification, and make arrangements to remove you from our list.  This is necessary not only from the point of view of the best care for you, but also because of government expectations from the practice in the area of screening and preventative treatments.  If you wish to discuss any issues around private medicine, please consult with one of the partners.
