Get an online sexual health check-up

Sexual Health London is a new online sexual health service for people who want a straightforward and convenient test for sexually transmitted infections without needing to visit a clinic.

Just register for Sexual Health London and complete the online consultation. If the service is right for you, a free kit will be posted out so you can collect your samples and return them to the lab for testing – you will receive the test results within a few days. Alternatively you can pick up a self-testing kit at the sexual health clinic.

The practice would like to promote the use of online access for appointments, prescriptions and results. Please come to the reception team with photo ID to register for a user name and password, and details of the website to use. Thank you.

Clinics & Services

Preventative Care

scope_apple_heartThe doctors and nurses offer advice by appointment regarding diet, exercise, stress, alcohol, and other risk factors to your health.

Diabetic clinics

Dr King & the practice nurse hold a monthly diabetic clinic. Diabetic patients will receive an invitation or reminder to book an appointment in the clinic.  Monitoring of each patient’s condition is carried out & advice given, where necessary, with regards to diabetes.

As soon as you are aware that you are pregnant, make an appointment with the doctor who will take a history and carry out some general health checks before referring you to a local hospital of your choice. You will be given a shared care programme enlisting subsequent antenatal care.

Minor Surgery

Minor operations can be performed in our treatment room. Please consult with your doctor first who will then arrange for you to be given an appointment, if appropriate, in the once monthly held minor surgery clinic.

Well Woman Clinic

The practice nurses offer smears, pre-natal counselling, breast awareness and family planning, as well as blood tests and blood pressure checks. The NHS recall system invites women who are registered with a GP for regular smear tests. Women are routinely recalled every three to five years. It is therefore important that all women ensure their GP has their correct name and address. Women who have not had a recent cervical test may be offered one when they attend their GP or family planning clinic on another matter, or can book an appointment with the practice nurse.

Dr King provides contraceptive services – implants and coils. If you are interested, please book a telephone consultation to discus this further.

COPD Clinic

The Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease clinic is run quarterly to demand. The nurses check and assess each individual patient’s condition. Patients with COPD will receive an invitation to book an appointment in the clinic.

Travel Immunisation

The practice nurses are able to offer advice and travel vaccinations by appointment.  Some of the vaccinations are not available under the NHS and a fee will be charged for these.

Smoking Cessation

This clinic gives advice and treatment to patients trying to give up smoking. This is a six-week programme: half an hour for the initial appointment followed by a series of 15 minute appointments.

Flu Clinics

Flu vaccinations are available from late September to December to the over 65s and those with chronic illness and are given during special clinic sessions by the nurses. Please contact reception at this time for dates.

Other Services Counselling

A counsellor, Cate Lyon, is linked to the practice and this service is now funded through the NHS and available by referral from the GP. Counselling offers a first point of contact specifically for those patients with emotional or psychological problems. There is a substantial psycho-social element within general practice consultations because people generally seek help initially from their doctor.

By employing a counsellor we are able to offer patients a treatment choice and ease of access to professional counselling service within a primary care setting. A counsellor can help the process of change by helping people to express their feelings, clarify their thoughts, re frame their problems and consider potential solutions so that they can understand themselves better and be able to manage their lives more effectively
